FAQs
Who are Aldi?
We are one of the world’s biggest grocery retailers, with over 7,000 stores across the globe. And the difference with us is that we’re dedicated to bringing you the highest quality at the lowest possible prices, all the time, with every single product.
Why are there so many ‘own brands’ and other labels I don’t recognise?
Most of the items we sell are exclusive own brands. That way, you’re not paying an inflated price merely for the name of a product – it’s quality, after all, that counts. Equally, we believe in the no-fuss presentation of our goods. We figure you would rather pocket the savings this gives you than absorb the cost of unnecessary display units which bump up the cost of your weekly shop elsewhere.
Why do you have so few staff?
At Aldi, we employ fewer staff – but all are of a higher calibre, receive excellent training and are better motivated because there are superb career prospects. They’re also better paid, so they’re keen to stay with us – and you reap the benefits of their all-round experience. Quality rather than quantity means a tightly-run, extremely efficient ship.
Why are there no shopping baskets?
We only have trolleys at Aldi because this is what most people prefer to use, and by not having baskets as well we keep costs down. Also, our trolleys operate on a £1 deposit system, so they’re less likely to go missing and you’re not paying for replacements as a consequence.
Why do I have to pack my bags away from the till?
As the saying goes, ‘time is money’ and at Aldi, we believe in saving you both. By packing your own bags away from the till, queuing time is at a record low; and is complemented by one of the most advanced scanning systems available. This way, you don’t wait for long, we can serve more customers more efficiently, and prices are kept low.
Why do I have to pay for carrier bags?
Carrier bags cost money – and it’s a cost that’s always passed on to the customer. We don’t think this fair, so we let you decide whether or not you want to buy them.
Why do your Special Buys go so fast?
Because we’re so big, we have exceptional buying power – which we can pass on to you directly. All of our Special Buys are in strictly limited supply, so when they’re gone, they’re gone. They sell quickly because we offer such extraordinarily good value!
As you’ll discover, Aldi has a whole new approach to shopping. We keep things simple to save you money. You won’t find elaborate displays and costly in-store gimmicks, just a more efficient streamlined way of doing business, designed to keep overheads to a minimum.
Come and see for yourself.
